Key takeaway: Employers in San Diego added 34,300 jobs (+2.3%) year over year, the most so far in 2019. The U.S. average growth rate was +1.5%. Industrial & lab users as well as medical users drove more than 60% of the growth in San Diego. Strong job growth helped drive the unemployment rate down 20 basis points (bps) year over year to 2.9%, tied for the lowest November rate on record. The figure remained well below the state and national averages. The number of labor force participants (adults employed plus the unemployed active job-seekers) also grew by 6,200 (+0.4%), a healthy indicator for the local supply of labor.
