Dollar General targets the Spring of 2017 for groundbreaking on a 750,000 sq ft (up to 900,000 sq ft) distribution center in Florida (Montgomery County), NY. Scheduled opening is early 2018. The facility is planned to employ approximately 550 people.
While building products and food/beverage continue to be marker drivers, medical supplies/devices are increasing demand for warehouse space. AMD leased 62,000 +/- sq ft in a 100,000 sq ft spec building in Rotterdam Industrial Park and Dynarex now occupies 72,000 +- sq ft in Guilderland.
Capitalizing on market opportunities and a sustained but suspect low interest environment, several regional companies have purchased and expanded into larger facilities to accommodate growth. Noble Gas in Albany (40,000+ sq ft) and Arnoff Moving and Storage in Malta (72,000+ sq ft) were two of the firms making strategic growth real estate purchases in 2016.
