Axa was in need of new offices that boasted a more up-to-date look and feel, and offered both heads-down places to work and spaces that favoured interaction and collaborative working. The project also needed to strengthen their corporate image.
The design was inspired by the red line of the Axa logo, which was the key element used to divide the main areas of each floor; a red wall that serves as both a visual and acoustic division for the floor.
In the communal areas, such as the staff canteen, we wanted to make each employee feel as if they were sitting somewhere other than the workplace, in a fashionable city coffee shop, rather than an office building for example. This is how we came up with the idea of creating a space inspired by a small grocery store.
